Leonid Tchertov (born 1949) is a member of IASSp/AISE from 1995. He graduated as a certified specialist from the Higher School of Industrial Art in Saint Petersburg, Russia (1972). He received the degree of PhD from the Saint Petersburg State University with the dissertation “Language of Object Forms and Spatial Relations” (1996). In the same University, he gave courses on general semiotics and semiotics of space combining them with the teaching of special disciplines in the Art School. Such combination contributed to the developing of author’s perspective on semiotics of space and spatial arts. The main subjects of his researches in the field of spatial semiotics are the specific spatial codes and their using for semiotization of diverse autonomous and separate spaces – in object environment, in architecture, in pictorial arts, etc. (see bibliography).
